Abstract
Traditional medical practice is based on knowledge of current research, experience and common sense, all of which are variables specific to an individual. Thus, there is a tendency for each doctor to manage the same condition slightly differently. Usually, patients recover well. Because some differences in clinical management may have an impact on cost-effective use of finite resources, doctors are being asked to justify their practice.
