Riassunto
Il metabolismo consiste in una serie di reazioni enzimatiche organizzate in processi e comprende tutte quelle trasformazioni che convertono i nutrienti in energia (ad esempio, in adenosintrifosfato, ATP). La regolazione del metabolismo dei substrati negli esseri umani comporta una complessa interazione tra ormoni, nutrienti esogeni e scambi sistemici, per mantenere un costante e adeguato apporto di nutrienti a tutti gli organi del corpo [1].
