Nell’adulto con cardiopatia congenita, l’anticoagulazione e la terapia antiaggregante possono essere necessarie allo scopo di prevenire trombosi o embolismi correlati a:

  • valvole meccaniche o bioprotesi;

  • aritmia sopraventricolare;

  • cardioversione;

  • problematiche specifiche correlate a:

    • shunt di Blalock-Taussig

    • circolazione di tipo Fontan

    • cianosi

    • sindrome di Eisenmenger

    • condotti, stent o dispositivi di chiusura dei difetti.

Inoltre, i soggetti in terapia anticoagulante cronica richiedono dei costanti aggiustamenti in corso di:

  • chirurgia;

  • gravidanza.
