Abstrait
Les polynômes orthogonaux (p. ex. ceux de Legendre, de Chebyshev ou les polynômes tigonométriques de Fourier) sont très largement utilisés en théorie de l’approximation. Ce chapitre présente leurs principales propriétés et introduit les transformations associées. Nous verrons en particulier la transformation de Fourier discrète et l’algorithme de transformation de Fourier rapide (FFT). Des applications à l’interpolation, à l’approximation par moindres carrés, à la différentiation numérique et à l’intégration de Gauss seront également exposées.
