Abstract
Worldwide, more than 5 million volunteers have been HLA-typed as potential hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) donors for patients who otherwise would not have the option of transplant therapy. The organization and responsibilities of the more than 43 registries vary significantly, generally dependent upon their financial support.
