Abstract
Laminoplasty consists of enlargement of the spinal canal and reconstruction of the lamina. There are two basic methods for enlargement of the spinal canal. One involves splitting the center of the lamina and opening thelaminabilaterally, the so-called French door approach [1], The other method, known as Hirabayashi’s open door [2], involves cutting the lateral side of the lamina and then opening the lamina to the other side.
