Hinsichtlich der Zerstörung tropischer Regenwälder findet das Konzept eine Anwendung in seiner historischen Anlehnung an die Agrarwirtschaft wie auch in bezug zu einer neoklassischen bzw. institutionalistischen Auslegung.
