Die Einsatzmöglichkeiten von RFID in der Logistik sind aus heutiger Sicht vielfältig. Man spricht sogar davon, dass der Transponder zukünftig den Barcode ersetzen kann [Ostl03-ol]. Fraglich ist, ob das wirklich so einfach ist, denn der groβflächige Einsatz von RFID auf Artikelebene soll erst ab 2008 erfolgen. [JHN+04-ol, S. 8] Erst dann soll der Transponderpreis bei ca. 5 Cent liegen. [Schm04, S. 9]
