An Adaptive Fuzzy Sliding-Mode Controller

Abstract

In this article a linguistic, heuristics-based adaptation algorithm for a fuzzy sliding-mode controller (FSMC) is presented. The algorithm relies on linguistic knowledge in form of fuzzy if-then rules which reflect how an experienced operator would adapt the controller in order to obtain desired closed-loop behaviour. In Fig. 1 the structures of the underlying control and adaptation loops are shown.
