Abstract
At the end of the sixties Israel Gohberg was candidate for promotion to the position of Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR. This required letters of support. Some were sent by telegram, others by ordinary mail. Here some of these telegrams, letters are presented in Engish translation.
