Zusammenfassung
Die respiratorische Insuffizienz umfaßt ein ausgedehntes Spektrum an Erkrankungen bei dem auf der einen Seite der normal ernährte fiebrige Patient mit einem ARDS und auf der anderen Seite der schlecht ernährte normotherme Patient mit einer chronisch obstruktiven Atemwegserkrankung (COPD) steht. Eine Standardernährung, die alle pathophysiologisch-metabolischen Veränderungen innerhalb dieser doch recht inhomogenen Patientenpopulation berücksichtigt gibt es zwar nicht, doch kann die Frage nach der Notwendigkeit einer, auf die Bedürfnisse des respiratorisch insuffizienten Patienten abgestimmte Ernährung, die zudem den Erfordernissen der jeweiligen Krankheitsphase (kontrollierte Beatmung, asistierte Beatmung, Weaning, Spontanatmung) Rechnung trägt, grundsätzlich mit JA beantwortet werden. Diese Feststellung begründet sich wie folgt:
