Histological Observations on Retrieved Human Allografts

Abstract

Massive human allografts are frequently being used in reconstructive surgery of the skeleton especially after resection of a malignant bone tumor. Despite their frequent use little is known about the incorporation of massive allografts in humans. The present study reports on the histological findings in eight retrieved massive allografts all of which had been implanted in the course of surgery for malignant bone tumors at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
