Abstract
The surgeons at the Endo-Klinik have been performing joint replacement operations since the mid-nineteen-sixties—at first in cases of femoral neck fractures and arthritis, and then for severe hip dysplasia [1,10, 13]. At that time small defects in the secondary acetabulum were closed using cement, which was often reinforced by screws. But in the following years we observed in more and more cases that these cement wedges were pressed out of position and the acetabular cup became loose.
