Zusammenfassung
Das Rötelnvirus ist ein 60–70 nm durchmessendes RNS-Virus der Gattung Rubiviren aus der Familie der Togaviren. Das Virus besitzt eine Lipidhülle und beinhaltet drei Proteine: E1 und E2 sind in der Hülle lokalisiert, ein weiteres im Core des Virus. E1 ist ein Glykoprotein und besitzt neutralisierende und hämagglutinierende Epitope. Es ist nur ein Serotyp bekannt. Ein „antigen drift“ wurde bisher nicht beobachtet.
