Epilepsie und organisches Psychosyndrom (POS)

Zusammenfassung

Aus den bisherigen klinischen Erfahrungen lassen sich folgende Punkte herausstellen:

• 1. Sowohl auf Grund klinischer Erfahrung wie auch auf Grund von Testuntersuchungen steht fest, daß beim Epileptiker ein infantiles psychoorganisches Syndrom vorkommen kann.

• 2. Dieses Syndrom ist identisch mit demjenigen, das bei nicht epileptischen Hirnorganikern gefunden wird.

• 3. Es ist häufiger bei der Gruppe der symptomatischen Epilepsie als bei der Gruppe der genuinen Epilepsie.

• 4. Das Syndrom kann täuschend nachgeahmt werden durch exogene Faktoren, insbesondere durch die antikonvulsive Therapie und durch Milieueinflüsse. Die differentialdiagnostische Abgrenzung ist daher schwierig.

Summary

On the basis of available clinical experience the following points can be esta lished:

• 1. Clinical experience and tests have both established that an infantile psycho-organic syndrome can occur in cases of epilepsy.

• 2. This syndrome is identical with that found in cases of psycho-syndrome in non-epileptic patients.

• 3. It is more frequent in cases of symptomatic epilepsy than in cases of genuine epilepsy.

• 4. Exogenous factors, in particular anti-convulsive therapy and environmental influences, can produce deceptively similar symptoms. Differential diagnosis is therefore difficult.
