Yielding and Failure of Transversely Isotropic Solids

  • Chapter
Applications of Tensor Functions in Solid Mechanics

Part of the book series: International Centre for Mechanical Sciences ((CISM,volume 292))

Abstract

A suitable framework allowing to describe yielding and failure of anisotropic materials with the required generality and pertinence is furnished by the theory of representations for tensor functions. In this Chapter, invariant formulations of the plastic behavior and failure of transversely isotropic solids are developed. For other material symmetries, the corresponding constitutive relations can be derived in a similar manner.
