Abstract

The Institute for Integrative Biology at the ETH belongs to the Department of Environmental Sciences and consists of ten professorships and two special units. We undertake an integrative approach to investigating biological systems in order to better understand their properties and function. These include native, invasive and novel organisms such as genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Our mission is to increase the understanding of ecological and evolutionary processes affecting interactions among organisms and biological systems; to transmit the knowledge gained so that it contributes to human welfare and the sustainability of natural resources and to educate our undergraduate and graduate students in the relevant fields of research.
