Abstract
For many centuries, many kinds of alcoholic beverages (wine, beer and spirits) have been produced in central Europe. Adolescents grow up in an alcohol permissive milieu and see that adult drinking is socially accepted and even desired behaviour. The advantage of initiating this consumption at a young age is that adolescents often learn how to use alcoholic beverages at an early stage. A primary disadvantage are the increased risks associated with this early consumption and the development of physical and psychological dysfunctions, as well as the learned attitude that alcohol can be used as a basic food.
