Zusammenfassung
Ein zentrales Vermeidungsziel bei Misserfolgsangst ist die Scham. Eine evolutionspsychologische Theorie über die Funktion der Scham erklärt, wann die Emotion Scham funktional und wann sie dysfunktional ist. Die erhöhte Schambereitschaft ist bei Misserfolgsangst der Grund für maladaptive Strategien, mit denen die vermeintliche Unfähigkeit verborgen werden soll. Anschließend werden die verschiedenen Theorien zur Misserfolgsangst, zum Selbstwert, zur Scham und zur sozialen Integration zusammengeführt, um zu verstehen, was die Misserfolgsangst reduziert und einen stabilen Selbstwert fördert. Schließlich wird begründet, warum Therapieresistenz gehäuft bei Misserfolgsangst auftritt.
