Psychosoziale Aspekte der kosmetischen Intimchirurgie des weiblichen Genitales

Zusammenfassung

Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts sind medizinische Eingriffe Mode geworden, mit denen das weibliche Genital einem Schönheitsideal angeglichen werden soll. Mit zunehmender Popularität weiblicher ästhetischer Genitalchirurgie hat sich eine wissenschaftliche Debatte um den Nutzen und die Risiken dieser Eingriffe entwickelt. Im Folgenden werden zunächst die Häufigkeiten der Eingriffe und die sozio-kulturellen Hintergründe, die dem Trend weiblicher kosmetischer Genitalchirurgie zugrunde liegen, dargestellt. Im Anschluss wird der aktuelle Forschungsstand zur Indikation und dem psychosozialen Outcome referiert.
