Zusammenfassung
In diesem Aufsatz wird analysiert, wie und durch welche formalen Mittel Regisseur Steven Soderbergh es schaffte, mit Traffic nicht nur einen gewichtigen Beitrag zur Problematisierung des US-amerikanischen „War on Drugs“ zu liefern, sondern auch trotz der komplexen Erzählstruktur des Films einen Publikumserfolg zu landen. Der Regisseur liefert durch die komplexe narrative Struktur des Films dem Zuschauer viele Informationen und Blickwinkel, ohne ihm aber die Meinungsbildung abzunehmen. Parallelen dieses Vorgehens mit dem psychotherapeutischen Ziel einer Steigerung von Ambiguitätstoleranz werden diskutiert.
