Zusammenfassung
Bei Fusionen geht es darum, dass ein Unternehmen ein anderes ganz oder teilweise erwirbt, Unternehmen sich zusammenschließen oder eine sonstige Verbindung eingehen. Bei einer Übernahme wechselt eine Einheit in den Einfluss- und Entscheidungsbereich einer anderen. Das dabei häufig auftretende Merger-Syndrom ist abhängig vom Grad der angestrebten Integration, dem Grad der Feindseligkeit, Merkmalen der übernehmenden Organisation und der Passung der beiden Unternehmenskulturen. Übernahmen bedrohen die eigene Identität, was sich u. a. in Bevorzugungen der Ingroup bei gleichzeitiger Abwertung der Outgroup äußert. Aufseiten der Mitarbeiter können Fusionen Stress auslösen und das Wohlbefinden verringern, außerdem steigt dadurch gewöhnlich die Fluktuation. Den negativen Wirkungen kann durch geeignete kommunikative Maßnahmen entgegengewirkt werden, wobei die realistische Fusionsvorschau günstig wirkt. Führung muss sowohl eine neue Identität als auch das Gefühl der Gerechtigkeit vermitteln.
