Zusammenfassung

Störungen der Funktion und Integrität der Schleimhäute sind ein oft unterschätztes Problem bei Patienten, die eine systemische Chemo- und/oder Strahlentherapie erhalten. Ob von kurzer oder langer Dauer, beeinträchtigt diese unerwünschte Wirkung die Lebensqualität. Bei oraler Mukositis beispielsweise haben Pflegende einen großen Einfluss darauf, mit gezielten Interventionen Beschwerden und Komplikationen zu verringern. Dieses Kapitel informiert über die Erkennung, Erfassung und Behandlung der Mukositis und der begleitenden Symptome.
