Zusammenfassung

Die Geschichte der Ohrmuschelkorrektur ist bestimmt durch den schon sehr alten Wunsch abstehende Ohren zu vermeiden und zu beheben, da sie als stigmatisierend empfunden wurden. Wegen der Gefahr der Infektionen hat man vor der Entdeckung der Antibiotika auf Manipulationen am Knorpel verzichtet. Mit Beginn der sterilen Operationsverfahren und der Antibiose wurde zunehmend der Knorpel bearbeitet, und es entwickelten sich die 3 wichtigsten Formen der Ohrmuschelkorrektur: Converse, Mustardé und Stenström, die sich bis heute durchgesetzt haben. Erst in der jüngeren Zeit nutzt man wieder mehr die sanfteren, weniger invasiven Methoden, wie beispielsweise die Ritz-Methode nach Raunig. Die 1968 von McDowell beschriebenen Richtlinien, was eine Ohrmuschelplastik erreichen soll, sind bis heute gültig. Zusätzlich sollte Ohrmuschelplastik einfach und risikoarm sein und ein dauerhaftes Ergebnis liefern.
