Zusammenfassung

Das Magenkarzinom des älteren Patienten stellt eine Entität mit vielen Übereinstimmungen, aber auch mit Unterschieden im Vergleich zum Magenkarzinom des jüngeren und mittelalten Patienten dar. Die onkologische totale oder subtotale Gastrektomie inklusive radikaler Lymphadenektomie ist heutzutage in der Regel flankiert von den perioperativen chemotherapeutischen Therapieprotokollen. Sie stellt die einzige kurative Therapieoption dar, obwohl die Therapie bei älteren Patienten insgesamt mit erhöhten Raten postoperativer Morbidität und Mortalität behaftet ist. Vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen Datenlage ist nichtsdestoweniger anzunehmen, dass auch alte Patienten mit Magenkarzinom ganz eindeutig in ihrer Lebensqualität und Lebenserwartung von der kurativen Therapie profitieren.
