Zusammenfassung

Die Gattung Streptococcus (S.) (Familie: Streptococcaceae) umfasst zahlreiche Spezies grampositiver Kokken, die sich in Ketten oder Paaren lagern und sowohl unter aeroben als auch anaeroben Bedingungen vermehren. Von den Staphylokokken grenzen sie sich über die negative Katalasereaktion ab. Streptokokken sind typische Schleimhautparasiten.
