Zusammenfassung
Viele Paare, die eine Therapie aufsuchen, fragen sich, wie es dazu gekommen ist, dass ihre Partnerschaft nicht glücklicher verlaufen ist. Selbstverständlich kann diese Frage nicht grundsätzlich beantwortet werden. Jedes Paar ist unterschiedlich, hat eine eigene Geschichte, eigene Fallgruben, aber auch eigene Ressourcen und Stärken. Aufgrund dieser Diversität werden in diesem Kapitel verschiedenste Theoriemodelle vorgestellt, die erklären, wovon das Scheitern oder das Gelingen einer Partnerschaft abhängt: Während bei einigen Theorien insbesondere die kommunikativen Fertigkeiten für das Funktionieren einer Partnerschaft im Vordergrund stehen (▶ Abschn. 3.1), betonen andere die Wichtigkeit eines funktionalen Umgangs mit Stress (▶ Abschn. 3.2). Schließlich gibt es auch Theorien, die der Wahl des Partners eine wichtige Bedeutung zuschreiben und in Partnerschaftskonflikten die Möglichkeit zum Wachstum und zur Weiterentwicklung sehen (▶ Abschn. 3.3). Diese drei Theorien unterscheiden sich an ihrer „Oberfläche“ teilweise maßiv voneinander. Je nach Perspektive können jedoch auch viele gemeinsame Annahmen identifiziert werden. Das vierte und letzte Modell soll versuchen, die verschiedenen Aspekte der genannten Theorien in ein größeres, aber auch allgemeineres Modell zusammenzufassen, wobei hier insbesondere die Funktion der dahinterliegenden psychischen Strukturen aufgezeigt werden soll (▶ Abschn. 3.4)
