Abstract

Access networks are increasingly shaped by the emerging trend of user applications that called for the need of converged layers to meet the requirement of growing spectrum resources. But currently, majority of the previous works in this domain are still limited to a specific functional layer. Recently discovered, MANETs of access network alone have salient characteristic that is bandwidth constrained where the wireless links of frontend topology will continue to have significantly lower capacity than their wired counterpart. Hence, a unified and hybrid method to establish a performance evaluation of MANET (AODVUU, OLSR and DYMOUM) routing based on IEEE 802.11 mesh topology over passive optical system access network is proposed through simulation in the OMNeT environment. The results show that DYMO has the best performance compared to AODV and OLSR of in terms of throughput and delay as the performance metrics.
