Zusammenfassung
Die in diesem Kapitel diskutierten Mykobakterien werden als nicht tuberkulöse Mykobakterien (NTM) bezeichnet und zusammen mit M. leprae von den tuberkulösen Mykobakterien des M.-tuberculosis-Komplexes abgegrenzt. Typischerweise sind NTM in der Umwelt weit verbreitete, fakultative Pathogene. In diesem Kapitel werden die durch NTM verursachten Erkrankungen Schwimmbadgranulom, Buruli-Ulkus sowie Infektionen durch schnell wachsende Mykobakterien, wie M. fortuitum, M. chelonae, M. abscessus unter reisemedizinischen Aspekten genauer beleuchtet. Da die Therapie dieser Erkrankungen nicht standardisiert und schwierig ist, soll dem Leser hier praktische Unterstützung angeboten werden.
