Zusammenfassung
Die Strahlentherapie stellt eine wichtige Säule der onkologischen Therapie dar. Sie ist eine lokale Therapiemaßnahme und kann auch dort eingesetzt werden, wo das Skalpell zu viel Schaden anrichten würde. Daher wird eine Strahlentherapie oft in kritischen Körperregionen und bei nicht vollständig operablen Tumoren durchgeführt. Mit modernen Techniken können erfahrene Teams meist gut verträgliche und sehr wirksame Therapien anbieten. Die Behandlung geschieht in mehreren, täglich erfolgenden, ambulanten Sitzungen über einige Wochen. Sie ist schmerzlos und dauert nur wenige Minuten. Moderne Bildgebung und innovative Bestrahlungstechniken verbessern die Präzision und stärken den Stellenwert der Strahlentherapie in der Pädiatrie.
