Zusammenfassung
Der somatoforme Schwindel macht einen großen Anteil der komplexen Schwindelsyndrome aus. Im Krankheitsverlauf zeigen Patienten mit komplexen somatoformen Schwindelerkrankungen auch nach mehreren Jahren in etwa 70% noch Schwindelsymptome und eine stärkere Beeinträchtigung ihrer Berufs- und Alltagsaktivitäten als Patienten mit organischen Schwindelerkrankungen (Furman und Jacob 1997; Yardley et al. 2000; Eckhardt-Henn et al. 2003). Die häufigsten zugrunde liegenden psychischen Störungsbilder sind Angststörungen und phobische Störungen, depressive sowie dissoziative und somatoforme (ICD-10:F45) Störungen.
