Abstract
The evolution of an elasto-plastic material occupying a three-dimensional region is studied, by representing its constitutive law by a Prandtl-Ishlinskiî model of either play- or stop-type By coupling such a law with the dynamic equation, a system of (possibly infinitely many) variational inequalities is obtained.
