Zusammenfassung

Das Grundprinzip der Elektrochirurgie besteht darin, daß ein hochfrequenter Strom von einer großflächigen “Neutralelektrode” über den Körper des Patienten zu einer kleinflächigen “Aktivelektrode” geleitet wird. Dabei wird an der Aktivelektrode eine sehr hohe Stromdichte erreicht, die bei Überschreiten von Mindestwerten die zur Koagulation oder zum Schneiden erforderliche Gewebeerwärmung verursacht. Hochfrequenz-ströme mit Frequenzen von 50o kHz sind erforderlich, um nicht durch den Stromfluß eine Faraday-Reizung von Nerven und Muskulatur zu verursachen.
