Zusammenfassung
Eine der vornehmlichsten Aufgaben ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Tätigkeit besteht in der Gestaltung und Entwicklung von Arbeitssystemen. Diese Arbeitssysteme können sehr unterschiedliche Arbeitsaufgaben haben, wie z.B. das Cockpit eines Verkehrsflugzeugs im Vergleich zu einer Fertigungsinsel in einer Werkshalle. Beiden Arbeitssystemen ist jedoch gemein, daß zur Erfüllung von Arbeitsaufgaben in den Arbeitssystemen üblicherweise Materialien, Energien und Informationen kombiniert und damit zielorientiert in ein Arbeitsergebnis umgesetzt werden. Ein wichtiges ingenieurwissenschaftliches Gestaltungsziel ist neben der Gewährung der Effektivität des Arbeitssystems (das Flugzeug muß fliegen) die Steigerung der Effizienz des Systems.
