Abstract

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive a child after one to two years of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Interestingly, the prevalence of infertility has not changed over the past 100 years. Reports from Australia a century ago show a prevalence of about 12% women who cannot conceive, and this is still true for industrialized countries (Snick et al. 1997).
