Abstract
Fluids1) abound during the formation of most rocks and mineral deposits. In the majority of geological environments, they tend to be mixtures of a number of species like H2O, CO2, CH4, CO, H2, N2, H2S, etc. The presence of NaCl or other salts may add to their complexity. The computation of mineral equilibria involving a fluid species i requires that its chemical potential be known at a given set of T, P, and X i [cf. Eq.(1.100)].
