Abstract
The extension of the two-grid iteration to the multi-grid iteration is already described in § 2.5 for the one-dimensional problem. In §4.1 the algorithm is described in various ways. Typical convergence properties of the multi-grid iteration are discussed in § 4.2. The convergence rates have to be related to the computational work, which is estimated in § 4.3. Numerical results are reported in § 4.4 for the model problem of the Poisson equation in the square and in general domains.
