Abstract
The standard q-simplex Δl q consists of all points x∈IRq+1 such that
-
(a)
$$ 0 \leqslant {x_i} \leqslant 1,\;i = 0,1, \cdots ,q $$
-
(b)
$$ \sum\nolimits_{i = o}^q {{x_i} = 1} $$
where IRq+1 denotes euclidean space and {xi} are the coordinates of x ∈ IRq+1. Clearly Δ q is closed and bounded, hence compact. Because of (b) we can replace (a) by
