Zusammenfassung
„Regierungen kommen und gehen, Staaten aber bleiben erhalten“, so einer der Grundsätze, die Studierende der Politikwissenschaft lernen. Und erhalten geblieben ist der seit mehr als einem Jahrtausend bestehende ungarische Staat sehr wohl. Im Laufe der Zeit hat Ungarn mitten in Europa, umgeben von Deutschen, Slawen oder eben Türken seine ethnische, linguistische und kulturelle Kontinuität trotz häufiger Änderungen der Regierungsform, eventueller geografischer Trennungen und Schwankungen des Souveränitätsgrades aufrechterhalten können.
