Abstract
The goal of this phenomenological study was to investigate the experience of mental representations and inner perceptions of a young adult who attempted suicide. According to data from the World Health Organization, suicide is the second leading cause of death between the ages of 15 and 29. The data collection instruments used were: interview, questionnaire and creative production. Analysis of the data resulted in the emergence of seven themes: obsession of abuse; apart in the world; knowing oneself; opening one’s eyes; the way out; revealing force that releases; act of courage and love. The conclusion is reached that experiencing the scenario of a suicide attempt can lead to the awakening of spirituality as a healing force, when considered as a constituent part of the psychotherapeutic process.
Zusammenfassung
Das Ziel dieser phänomenologischen Studie war es, die Erfahrung von mentalen Repräsentationen und inneren Wahrnehmungen eines jungen Erwachsenen zu untersuchen, der einen Selbstmordversuch unternahm. Nach Angaben der Weltgesundheitsorganisation ist Selbstmord die zweithäufigste Todesursache im Alter zwischen 15 und 29 Jahren. Die verwendeten Datenerfassungsinstrumente waren: Interview, Fragebogen und kreative Produktion. Die Analyse der Daten führte zur Entstehung von sieben Themen: Besessenheit von Missbrauch, in der Welt getrennt sein, sich selbst kennen, die Augen öffnen, den Weg hinausfinden, die offenbarende Kraft, die frei macht, Akt des Mutes und der Liebe. Es wird die Schlussfolgerung gezogen, dass das Erleben des Szenarios eines Selbstmordversuchs zum Erwachen der Spiritualität als Heilkraft führen kann, wenn sie als Bestandteil des psychotherapeutischen Prozesses betrachtet wird.
