Zusammenfassung
Herta Herzog (1910-2010) gilt aufgrund ihrer kanonischen wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten aus den 40er Jahren als Klassikerin der Kommunikationsforschung. Weniger bekannt ist ihr jahrzehntelanges Wirken als Marktforscherin für eine Werbeagentur. Dabei gab sie Impulse, die bis heute fortwirken, auch wenn ihre Urheberin fast vergessen ist. Sie entwickelte die Methode der Focus Groups, er-fand die strategische Planung, propagierte das psychologische Verständnis des Marketings und verband Wissenschaft und Praxis miteinander. Der Beitrag stellt Leben und Werk Herzogs kurz vor und zeigt die für die aktuelle Werbepraxis relevanten Anknüpfungspunkte auf.
