Zusammenfassung
Jedes Individuum hat einen Grund für sein Dasein. In Schulen, Ausbildungen und Universitäten gibt es allerdings kein Fach, das uns Menschen beibringt zu erkennen, was wir in der Welt tun sollen. Es gibt kein Fach namens „Selbstentfaltung“, „Sinn-finden“ oder „Glücklich sein im Berufsleben“. Es gibt auch keines, das uns hilft, zu uns selbst zu kommen oder innere Ruhe zu finden. Diese Art Verbindung mit sich selbst wird der Religion oder der Spiritualität zugeordnet und rückt leicht in den Hintergrund. So erfahren wir schon von früh an Trennung statt Ganzheit. Auf der einen Seite gibt es die Welt der Leistung, des Erfolgs und der Ratio, auf der anderen Seite, empfinden wir Gefühle, Unsicherheit und Verletzlichkeit. Während Beruf und Karriere der ersten Seite zugeordnet werden, wird die zweite leicht vergessen. Wie lernen wir herauszufinden, welche Aufgabe wir in dieser Welt erfüllen wollen? Wie wir am besten aus uns heraus wirken können? Wer bringt uns bei, dass Arbeit auch (Selbst-) Erfüllung sein kann? Im folgenden Kapitel erörtern wir die Historie der Achtsamkeit und entsprechende aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse zu diesem Thema als mögliche Antwort auf Fragen rund um Sinn und Selbstentfaltung.
