Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit der Fragestellung, inwiefern informelles Lernen in sozialen Medien stattfinden kann. Hierzu wird zunächst festgehalten, dass formelle Angebote zur beruflichen Weiterentwicklung alleine nur in einem gewissen Maße zur beruflichen Weiterentwicklung von Individuen beitragen können. Im Gegensatz hierzu bieten informelle Lernnetzwerke für Individuen eine mögliche, komplementäre Option um Informationen, Ideen und Erfahrungen zu teilen, und mit anderen gemeinsam über Handlungsweisen und -muster zu reflektieren. Des Weiteren wird argumentiert, dass durch die kontinuierliche Ausbreitung von sozialen Medien sozial-mediale Möglichkeitsräume entstanden sind. Diese erzeugen einen Metakontext, worin Lernprozesse angestoßen werden können. Um die zugrundeliegenden Prozesse und Verhaltensmuster innerhalb dieser Möglichkeitsräume angemessen(er) beschreiben und erläutern zu können, wird der Theorie des Sozialkapitals (vgl. Bourdieu, 1986) eine vielversprechende Rolle zugeschrieben. Des Weiteren werden verschiedene Methoden zur Messung von Sozialkapital vorgestellt. Zusammenfassend lässt sich festhalten, dass soziale Medien mannigfaltige Möglichkeiten für die informelle, berufliche Weiterentwicklung von Individuen bieten. Allerdings sind diese Medien noch nicht hinreichend in Rahmen von informellen Lernprozessen untersucht, so dass noch viele Fragen offen bleiben. Dieser Beitrag stellt somit einen Schritt dar, um die (Lern-) Prozesse in diesen sozial-medialen Möglichkeitsräumen in geeigneter Weise beschreiben zu können.
