Abstract

This chapter answers the main research question of the study: how and why do the ideas of the German and Brazilian governments on global renewable energy governance differ? As a first step, the chapter examines the ideational differences between both governments. This section is structured along the categories that have already guided the analysis of the case studies and thus focuses on ideational differences concerning (1) global challenges addressed by global renewable energy governance, (2) renewable energy options, (3) barriers to a worldwide promotion of renewable energy, (4) main tasks for transboundary policy-making, (5) global governors on renewable energy, and (6) meta-aspects/salient features in global renewable energy governance.
