Zusammenfassung

Viel Verwirrung herrschte nicht nur bei westlichen Politikern, sondern auch in der Politikwissenschaft ob der unerwarteten Ereignisse des so genannten Arabischen Frühlings, der die Welt im Jahr 2011 überraschte. Ähnlich wie bei den Umbrüchen in Ostmitteleuropa in den Jahren 1989/90 hatte auch mit Blick auf den Arabischen Frühling die Politikwissenschaft insofern „versagt“, als sie diese Entwicklungen nicht vorherzusagen vermocht hatte.
