Die Kreiszahl π (gesprochen: ”Pi“) hätte gute Chancen, bei einer Umfrage unter Mathematikern nach der wichtigsten Zahl auf dem ersten Platz zu landen. Die Bedeutung für die Geometrie ist allgemein bekannt, Formeln wie ”Kreisumfang= π mal Durchmesser“ spielten ja schon in der Schulzeit eine wichtige Rolle.
