Abstract
The qualitative global behaviour of the networks which we have developed in Sections 5.1 to 5.5 for pore and carrier mechanisms and active transport in membranes is characterized by the existence of a uniquely determined steady state into which the state of the system will tend for t → ∞ irrespective of its initial state. We have explicitly shown this behaviour only for the case of the self-blocking of pores in Section 5.3 but the analogous calculations may readily be performed in the same way for the other cases mentioned above, cf. problem 1 of Chapter 5.
