Abstract
A persistent low grade acne in an adult woman is presumptively due to cosmetics unless proved otherwise. Diagnostic clues are often afforded by history. A common pattern is the re-appearance of mild acne some years after its rather complete disappearance in late adolescence; most recall some trouble with the disease during the early teens. Persons with a past history of acne are known to be far more susceptible to all forms of acne venenata. Acne cosmetica can, however, arise in adult women who seem to have passed through adolescence unblemished.
