Zusammenfassung

Von einer allgemein anerkannten Übereinstimmung in bezug auf die weiterhin stark unterschiedlich — um nicht zu sagen gegensätzlich — aufgefaßte Ätiologie der mit dem Wort „rheumatisch“ verknüpften Krankheiten scheinen wir weiter denn je entfernt. Bis zur Erreichung einer solchen wird ein von vielen Seiten als weitgehend eindeutig angesehenes, morphologisches Substrat unbedingt einer der Angelpunkte dieser Frage bleiben (Poynton und Paine, Wick, Leichtentritt U. a.).
