Abstract
Fire Island inlet, Long Island, New York, and up to 8 km east of the inlet under Fire Island. Present location of Fire Island inlet is long. 73°18‱ W and lat. 40°38‱ N (Fig. 9-1). The inlet is 4.8 km long and 1.1 km wide at present; its long axis trends in an east-west direction. Maximum depth: 10 meters.
